PROSEPT® Pera – The aldehyde-free, fast-acting disinfection and sterilization concentrate for heat-labile instruments.
PROSEPT® Pera is a concentrate in powder form that was specially developed for the manual reprocessing of heat-labile dental and medical instruments. Upon dissolving in water, PROSEPT® Pera produces a concentrated solution of peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide. Together these two highly active and extremely effective compounds inactivate all pathogens including resistant bacterial and fungal spores, mycobacteria, and non-enveloped viruses. PROSEPT® Pera is suitable for the cold sterilization of heat-labile medical devices such as endoscopes. Surfactants and corrosion inhibitors in combination with the pH-neutral formulation provide strong cleaning properties and good material compatibility. Thanks to the reduced surface tension of the working solution, it can easily access hard-to-reach areas and narrow canals for effective disinfection. The formulation is free of aldehydes and does not fixate proteins on the surfaces of instruments. PROSEPT® Pera does not release borates and its active ingredients disintegrate after use into environmentally friendly compounds. The working solution is biodegradable.

How Do I Use PROSEPT® Pera?

For your protection, wear a laboratory gown, household gloves and safety goggles. Prepare the working solution according to the instructions on the label. Use the enclosed measuring spoon and lukewarm water (35 – 40 °C) to produce the peracetic acid solution. Ensure that the lid of the powder container is securely closed. Stir regularly for 15 minutes. Immerse the instruments completely. Keep the instruments disjointed. Ensure that the air has completely vacated all cavities. Follow contact times. After disinfection, rinse the instruments thoroughly with sterile water and dry them. Replace the working solution daily, as it will become ineffective after 24 hours. Before first time use, test material compatibility. Do not use on copper, brass, and damaged chromium-plated surfaces.
